Die Brooklyn Bridge ist eine der ältesten Drahtseilhängebrücken der Welt. Sie wurde 1883 nach sechzehnjähriger Bauzeit in Neuyork (Stadt) vollendet. Entworfen wurde die Brücke durch den in Mühlhausen geborenen Ingenieur Johann August Röbling (1806–1869). Sie verband die damals noch eigenständigen Städte Brooklyn und Manhattan.
