Benedikt XI.
Benedikt XI., eigentlich Niccolo di Boccasio, in deutschen Werken auch Nikolaus Boccasino (geb. 1240 in Treviso; gest. 7. Juli 1304 in Perugia) war vom 22. Oktober 1303 bis zu seinem Tod 1304 Papst der katholischen Kirche.
Wirken
Benedikt XI. als Domikanergeneral mußte er 1296 in dem vom Bonifatius VIII. begonnen Kampf gegen Frankreich völlig nachgeben.[1]
